Prachi Desai’s journey to Bani Dixit reads like a fairytale.

Once upon a time there was this lovely girl, who lived happily with her parents and her sister in Panchgani, and then one day, while she was still a student in class 12, she went for an audition. And then she got a call… Prachi is definitely one of Ekta Kapoor’s rarer finds. When she was cast as the protagonist of a new show called Kasam Se, perhaps even Prachi herself did not anticipate the response. Within a few short months the unknown 17-year-old entrant into the entertainment industry became one of the best known faces across the country. The shy but courageous Bani Dixit vowed to keep her sisters safe in the big, bad city of Mumbai. And to keep them safe she was willing to beard the lion in his own den. As the demure Bani stood up to the ruthless Jai Walia, her innate grace and honesty swung reluctant admiration from the recalcitrant Jai Walia. But it was when they were duped into marrying each other that the magic began. Prachi won the hearts of the audience even as Bani began to fill the life and heart of Jai Walia with colour and love. The unknown 17 year old not only managed to hold her own against a gifted and experienced actor like Ram Kapoor but also proved that when it came to acting she was naturally gifted.


So incredible has been the on-screen chemistry of Ram and Prachi that the characters of Jai and Bani have entered the common lexicon of love and passion in the annals of Indian Television. Prachi’s acting ability is still an unexplored treasure trove and it is hoped that the future will allow her talents to be fully explored.

While Prachi has done a cameo in Kasauti Zidagi Kay and is set to make an appearance in Kya Hadsa kya Haqeeqat, she was one of the participants in the Reality Dance Show being aired on Sony, Jhalak Dikhla Ja. And she has most emphatically informed the audiences that her dancing abilities rival her formidable acting skills. Prachi went on to win the Jhalak Dikhla Ja dance contest.
