Amerie Rogers, Jan. 12, 1980, in Fitchburg, Massachusetts.
Early Life:
Amerie Rogers was born to an African-American father and a South Korean mother. As a result of her father being in the United States military, Amerie traveled to and lived in many different places, including Alaska, Texas, Germany and South Korea. She graduated from Georgetown University in 2000 with a dual degree in English and Fine Arts. She has said that she considers Washington D.C. her home. She has one sibling, a younger sister named Angela. Amerie and her sister's first language is Korean, and Amerie has a large following in South Korea.
Initial Success:
Throughout early 2002, Amerie's first single, "Why Don't We Fall In Love", from her debut album All I Have received much urban radio airplay. Based on the single's success, All I Have eventually sold more than half a million copies in the United States. After the success of her first album, Amerie was hired as the host of a then-new show on BET (Black Entertainment Television) called The Center. She left the show before her contract was up however, to accept a supporting role in the 2004 romantic comedy First Daughter, starring Tom Cruise's wife, Katie Holmes.
Second, Third & Fourth Albums:
On April 26, 2005, Amerie released her sophomore album Touch. Once again the album was primarily produced by mentor Rich Harrison, who contributed seven tracks to the record. It debuted and peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 and No. 3 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. In August 2005, Touch was eventually certified gold, like its predecessor, All I Have. Her third album, Because I Love It was released in Europe in May 2007 and a few months later in North America. Her fourth release, In Love & War, dropped in November 2009.

Amerie's a graduate of Georgetown University, where she studied English and fine arts.
She has said that always carries at least two books in her duffel bag, one fiction and one non-fiction.
She purportedly doesn't drink, smoke, or curse and prays before every meal.
In 2006, Amerie released a mixtape on her official website where she took subtle jabs at Beyonce and implied that Beyonce stole part of Amerie's vocal style.
