Alessandra Ambrosio

Alessandra Ambrosio was born on April 11, 1981 in Erexim, Brazil. She is a famous Brazilian supermodel.

Biography and Career :

Her modeling career started when she decided to take modeling lessons in Brazil. The course led to her participation in Elite's Look of the Year contest in 1996, which eventually led to her contract with Elite Model Management.

Alessandra Ambrosio was part of the deluge of Brazilian models that emerged after Gisele Bi¼ndchen opened the floodgates. One of the star models of that group, of which fellow Victoria's Secret/Guess? Model (and best friend) Ana Beatriz Barros is a member, the 5'10", light brown-haired Ambrosio accumulated quite a career in the late 1990's into the next century. Ambrosio was born in Erechim, Brazil, a small town in the south

. As an early teen, she enrolled in a modeling class and subsequently was entered in the Elite modeling agency's 1996 Look of the Year competition. Though she did not win, she was offered an Elite contract one year after.

Her first modeling job was the cover of the Brazilian Marie Claire, and Ambrosio followed with other editorial work, but it was not long after that the Marcianos at Guess signed Ambrosio for their fall Millennium campaign in 2000. Her lucrative print career began with being a Guess? Girl and continued with deals with Revlon and Victoria's Secret. Ambrosio walked the VS runway for the first time in 2000 and continued to be a fixture in subsequent shows. Ambrosio was also picked to be the spokesmodel for the 2004 Pink line by Victoria's Secret.

As for fashion shows, Alessandra has walked the catwalks for designers such as Laura Biagiotti, Christian Lacroix, Byblos, Fendi, Issey Miyake, Kenzo, Christian Dior, Nicole Miller, and Oscar de la Renta, among others. Guess? wasn't the only company to see Alessandra's beauty. She also has contracts with Revlon cosmetics, Gap (as of late), and is set to appear in advertisements for Calvin Klein eyewear and Giorgio Armani. Those who caught the Victoria's Secret fashion show in Cannes on the Internet may have noticed Alessandra in the show, among a cast of the lingerie line's staples, Tyra Banks and Stephanie Seymour.

While the Brazilian beauty was once an Elite girl, she has switched agencies and is now represented by Marilyn Gaultier. Although her modeling career is on the rise, Alessandra plans to pursue a University degree. When she's not modeling, she spends her time with her model/club promoter boyfriend of two and a half years, Jayson Lee (although she has been romantically linked to fellow model Marcelo Boldrini). She enjoys sandboarding and lounging on the beach listening to Brazilian music.

Her favorite place in the world still remains her tiny hometown, and having traveled the world has not convinced her otherwise. When not at her New York apartment or busy building a house in her native Brazil, Alessandra is leaving her mark around the world with International magazine covers, ad campaigns and big league designer fashion shows.

In a country that seems to breed beautiful women, there must be something in the Brazilian water. The most popular supermodel to come out of the South American country is Gisele Bundchen, but the long-legged beauty better watch her back with Alessandra Ambrosio well on her way.

Trivia :

- She has one sister.
- She had cosmetic surgery to get her ears pinned back, and had complications from the surgery for the two years following.
- Height: 5'10"/178 cm
- She entered the Elite Model Look contest and won in Brazil.

Keeley Hazell

Keeley Rebecca Hazell was destined to be a star. Born on the 18th of August of 1986 in Lewisham, England, Keeley is gifted with the look and the body that cameras love. It doesn’t hurt that she has been gifted with an amazing personality that attracts both men and women. She exudes a positive vibe, an almost visible glow around her that people can’t resist.

She may be the simple girl-next-door type, born and raised in suburbia but the girl has big dreams. And we all know that big dreams fueled by passion can take people to wondrous heights. Keeley Hazell may be every man’s fantasy at the moment, but just two years ago she was practically an unknown, working as a hairdresser after quitting school at the age of 16.

At the age of 17, Keeley Hazell decided to join The Daily Star’s contest “Search for a Beach Babe” and won. By then she was already nursing bigger dreams, setting her sights on fashion modeling. Keeley decided to go to college at Lewisham College to study fashion. At 5’6” and short by international fashion standards, it was clear that it would take more than a college education to land her gigs in the fashion industry. When she turned 18, friends persuaded her to join The Sun’s Page 3 Idol. She was hesitant at first but decided that the Page 3 contest was going to open many doors for her and was an opportunity too hard to pass up. Keeley Hazell promptly submitted sexy photos taken by her boyfriend to The Sun and in December of 2004, she was chosen as the Page 3 idol of the weekly newspaper. True enough, more than the L10,000 worth of clothes and the one-year exclusive contract with The Sun, the contest gave Keeley numerous rewards. With a modeling career and now projects for movies, the young woman, raised in Grove Park, has really gone far.

Keeley who admits to being dyslexic, did well in English and Math in high school, but over-all she was not exactly excelling in her Academics. She was often truant and spent most of her time with friends. She says puberty was a “confusing” time and the separation of her parents when she was 13 may have compounded her confusion. She admits to being a naughty and handful teenager but the challenges she faced could only have made the woman more grounded, and more focused.

Lingerie

The term ‘lingerie’ has been derived from old French ‘linge’, which means linen. Though lingerie has been in use since B.C, the term ‘lingerie’ was not extensively used to refer to the underclothing until the late 1850’s. It is interesting to note that even the mention of lingerie was considered scandalous in ancient times. Lingerie has a great contribution in defining for women what it means to look beautiful and sensuous. The rich and elaborate history of lingerie traces its development from being painful and boyish to evolving into being practical and feminine. Read the article to know the eventful history of lingerie.

Interesting & Amazing Information On Origin & Background Of Lingerie
While it is not possible to trace the exact roots of lingerie, the first record of its use has been collected from Egypt, which dates back to 3000 BC. Several terracotta figurines discovered throughout the ancient Near East suggest that different types of undergarments were worn during those times. Evidence also suggests that lion cloth was also used to make lingerie in ancient Egypt. Many female statues in classical Greece wear a crossed band over their shoulders and across the breast. A band of linen worn by women around the waist and lower torso has been mentioned in the ancient writings of Greece as well.

During the Middle Ages, linen underclothes were worn by nobility to protect their expensive outer dresses from body dirt, as also to provide a layer of warmth. Chemise and later corset were introduced in the 4th & 16th centuries respectively. Chemise was typically worn by women under petticoats. As compared to the ancient dress, modern fashion emerging from Medieval Europe concentrated on tailoring the clothing design according to the body shape. This was the time when women started to wear tight-fitting undergarments, so as to manipulate the shape of their bodies. Corset was extensively used by women in this age.

The beginning of 20th century introduced an alternative to the corset, in the form of bust bodices that supported the bosom as a whole. In 1914, Mary Phelps-Jacobs, an American, patented her lingerie design by the name Caresse-Crosby. The design consisted of two silk handkerchiefs tied to one another with ribbon straps and a seam in the center front. She sold her idea to the Warner’s, which introduced the first sizing with only A, B &C, as late as 1935. In Britain, the junior and medium sizing was used until the 50’s.

All through the 20th century, the development and advancement of manmade fabrics, such as nylon, DuPont’s Lycra, polyester, and Elastane microfibres, brought about changes in the development of lingerie. New fabrics paved way for the fashioning of lightweight, supportive, flexible and seamless lingerie. Estimates show that the lingerie market touched half a million pounds level at the end of the 1990’s. Further advancements in designs and fabrics have been introduced in the new millennia and innovative lingerie designs are establishing their market across the world.
